Refurbishment of the Refrigeration System – André-Lacroix Arena

The Plumbing department carried out a complete refurbishment of the mechanical brine/glycol refrigeration system at the André-Lacroix arena, located in Lévis.

The project in pictures

For this mandate, we also replaced the cooling loops under the ice rink slab and installed a glycol “snow melter”. We added a domestic hot water preheating system including a recirculated hot water loop for the locker rooms.

Challenges

The mechanical room was small, which made it difficult to install mechanical equipment and piping. Lowering the new cooler into the downstairs mechanical room presented an additional challenge since there was only one opening.
